for a parolee who got creative and got away. they hasted anthony sanchez yesterday on hillsdale avenue. in order to cuff him, the officers had to link two sets of handcuffs together because he's a larger man. somehow he was able to slip his handcuffs from behind his back to the front of his body. then when officers weren't looking he hopped into the driver's seat of the police van and took off. sanchez ditched the van in the neighborhood. police found the van but not sanchez. a follow-up now to a story we first brought you last month back on january 15th, jennifer araujo told police a stranger tried to pry her 2-year-old from her arms right in front of her home and later admitted that that story was a hoax. now she's facing a misdemeanor charge of falsely reporting a crime. she turned herself in this week and posted bail and scheduled to make her first court appearance march 6th. >> how much would you pay for a party? how about $5 million? big plans for a public party to celebrate the completion of the bay bridge. but the proposed price tag is raising eyebrows. after more than a decade construct

sanchez joins us live from san jose. what's the reason for the price tag this time? >> reporter: well, jessica, there are a lot of different reasons, they are very frustrated. they say they're used to paying higher gas prices here in california and they are also used to paying more for that summer blend of gas that is more expensive but we're transitioning to now. 32 cents in one month is pretty frustrating. >> i think it's outrageous. >> reporter: watching the gas prices go up as he drove cross-country from minnesota to the golden state. in the last month alone up 32 cents average of $3.93 a gallon of regular unleaded. >> you don't really have an option. you have to keep going. you can't just quit life just because the gas goes up. >> reporter: san francisco is really feeling the pain. his car takes the most expensive gas. >> it had gone down to a good level $4 for supreme. unfortunately, i have to get supreme on this. then $4.09 a gallon. it's frustrating. >> reporter: aaa says there's a number of reasons for the spike in california because of scheduled and unscheduled refinery main

. kris sanchez, nx bay area news. >>> the dry spell is nearly over. rain will return tomorrow. here's a live look outside at silicon valley. it's clear now but that's all about to change. let's bring in chief meteorologist jeff ranieri from the nbc bay area weather center with more. jeff? >> 13 days since our last major rain across the bay area, and for that matter, we haven't seen much of anything in 2013. satellite radar picture tonight look like a storm is coming. you can see very clear conditions across the greater bay area but we zoom out and the area i'm focusing in on is 334 miles away. that is the zone with the cold front that will eventually bring us our first rain drops again in 13 days. now let's take a look. tonight that increasing cloud cover throughout san mateo and san francisco counties and then for tomorrow morning as we zoom in, it's that area there in the north bay, napa, morin, sonoma county. anyone traveling from santa rosa down to san francisco will get those rain drops first. we are tracking not only the rain but some extremely low snow. we'll let you know who
